What makes this hair test different from other lab tests?
The Hair Tissue Mineral Assessment (HTMA) is a type of laboratory test that looks at your HAIR, instead of your blood or urine. It looks at your mineral status in your tissue (hair) over the course of 2-3 months.
Many minerals, like potassium, sodium, magnesium, etc are primarily NOT in your blood but instead cells, so this is a great way to assess these minerals.
The minerals we see in your hair (tissue) via this test, can tell us how your body is dealing with stress, and if you're burning through minerals too fast or you're deficient. It also looks at heavy metals

Yes absolutely! And it’s recommended! Pregnancy and breastfeeding, while beautiful, are natural physical stressors on the body and can impact our mineral status. With the increase demand of minerals, it’s even more important to be mindful of our mineral intake
You can! You can even do it on your dog!! The nice thing about the hair test is it’s non invasive. It just requires a heaping teaspoon worth of hair closest from the scalp
Ideally you’d want to wait 6-8 weeks. We want “virgin” hair and we need about 1.5 inches worth from the scalp, so you’ll want to wait until your colored hair has grown out. I usually recommend having your hair dresser cut your hair just before recoloring it.
Absolutely! Here is an example of what the test looks like
After you purchase and complete the onboarding form, which is where you’ll put your mailing address, I’ll mail you the home kit within 5-7 business days.
Once you send in your hair to the lab, it takes about 3 weeks for the results to come back to me, then please allow another week for me to interpret your results and send you a full care plan and interpretation. So depending on how fast you submit your hair, it’ll take around 4 weeks
You’ll continue to have access to all the information on minerals in the portal forever 🙂 However for the personalized lab result review video, you’ll have 2 weeks to download your interpretation to your computer.
